Well, I upgraded my 55 gal to a 90 gal. this weekend. My backroom looks like a tornato went thru. But as of this morning I'm all go. My 7 fish now have more room, husband wants more live rock. I also installed a protein skimmer. I am useing the 55 gal. for my refugium, filling it about half way.
Now my daughter wants is a few more fish.
Everyone looked good. I still have to install my T5 TekLights -they are just sitting on the top.
Only one that didn't look too happy this morning was my mushroom and my leather coral.

    Sounds good!

Your planning correlates with mine...I consider my current tank as the sump/refugium for next. ;)

Hey dc11648, I just did the same thing, went from a 55 to a 90, I am going to try to use my 55 as the sump/refug if it will fit under my stand, if not I have a 20L I am going to use. Is your tank a AGA 48x18x24, mine is, man that thing is heavy. It is already drilled and ready for a reef system. Can't wait for it to settle in.

If the T5's are new, make sure you acclimate the corals to the light.

Welcome to 3reef. I too just upgraded from a 55g but I jumped all the way to a 265g and had to purchase a 75g to use for a sump. Glad to have you here, hope all the livestock makes the transfer.

The thing was so heavy my husband and I could just about carry it. I never drilled. Has a overflow on the back - 3 powerheads (1 is to retate), 55 gal. turned into a refugium with a protein skimmer inside. Do not think I'll divide to make a sump/refug.
I did pick up a goby and cleaner shrimp 2 days ago. The goby is hideing and the cleaner shrimp I haven't seen.
Still rearangeing things, still need to buy more LR. But I love it. Love the size. My 2 clown fish seem to hang in the back right now, my coral leather and mushroom are starting to purk back up. My Bubble Coral is still dirty/sick looking.
Being new I've found out a lot from everyones help

The Corals were placed on the bottom sand for a week or two before moving further up. My Bubble Coral is my one sick looking puppy still. I've had it for about a month now. I do look about 2 a.m. and the bubbles are down and the tenticles are out. Which I like. Just very little bubbles and the skeleton part looks dirty, some algea(not string). I've taken a turkey baster and puffed a little. I also have the coral about in the middle of the tank, not close to the light. And doesn't seem to be heavy current. I would like to see more bubbles. What could I directly feed the Bubble Coral?

More power to you going 265 g - 90 g was hard enough. Still working with the Bubble coral. This weekend I hope to pickup a few LR and take things a little higher, so much more room in the 90 g over the 55 gal.
I placed the skimmer pump on a rock in the refugium last night. The goby stills hides and my new cleaner shrimp is ??? MIA.
