Okay, so I previously had a fish only tank but it had a hang on the back filter. I've recently purchased a 37 gallong aquarium, and I have a Pro Clear Aquatics wet/dry. It's been working fine, but as of late I've noticed the the level in the sump is dropping a bit fast and almost getting below the return pumps intake. What could cause this to happen? For instance the other day I had to dump 5 16oz water bottles into it to get it back to normal. That was probably a week or so ago, and not this morning I probably put the same in. Could the water be getting held up somewhere? Not sure whats going on here!

    Thanks!
    David

It's evaporating. You need to top off daily to keep the level consistent.

Wow, that's crazy! I wouldn't even begin to imagine it would be that much! Is there any standard rate as far as how much will evaporate per week in the summer months?

    heh. ditto on evap. :)
plenty of auto-top-off devices out there that would help you out.. search and you will find. Good move getting a sump version of the filter though.

no it all depends on many factors. tank surface area, temp, air movement over tank etc.

Anything that sticks out to you for smaller tanks like mine?
