I have an older Amiracle wet-dry/trickle filter. It only has 2 sections, an area for the bio balls and then an area for the sump. I would like to create a fuge out of the filter box. I have a few questions on it though:

    1. Will this work with only two sections if I remove the bio balls?
    2. Will the sump would just suck up the sand if i covered the entire bottom?
    3. If the filter box is big enough to be a filter will it work as a fuge?
    4. If everything works, Has anyone had success cultivating multiple types of live food?

    Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Post a picture please. It sounds small so it may not work, or not work very well. It may be easier to add a second small tank next to your sump and join them together, then run the wet dry balls and the fuge together.

Its pretty dark under my stand, so i borrowed this pic. The dimensions are 24Lx13.5Wx13.5D. If its too small, what size fuge needed for 100 gal?

should work fine, but I would use something like a screened and drilled plastic terrarium to house your dsb in the fuge if you want to house sand/mud and are worried about it being sucked via pump. Incorporating mangroves will also help with the size of the fuge as far as nutrient export goes.
