Wet Dry with Bio-Balls. Keep or Remove?

    I would say less often. Clean the filter every few months, but change your pad when ever it gets dirty.

    Do you mean the filter pad, or the whole sump?

    If you mean the pad, I do it every couple of days in my sump. I have media trays in mine. I just buy the filter pads in bulk and cut them to size. I always have a spare ready to swap in for the dirty one, which then gets rinsed and waits to be swapped back in.

    When they get too dirty, I toss them and replace with a new one.

    I meant the filter pad, not the whole sump. I take it out and replace it every other week. It is impossible to get all of the crap out with just rinseing!

    Yes, if you want, just rinse it thoroughly. I would say over time (maybe 5 rinses) the fiber may loosen and/or break down and a new pad is advisable.
