Wet Skim/dry Skim

    If you overfilter/over skim, a lot of your soft corals(zoanthids and leathers) along with a lot of LPS corals will starve. They feed off the dissolved organics in the water column.

    yea nice tread geekafied,

    Good read im pritty sure it must be possible to achive this skimmerless setup but as for me its just to early to drop out my skimmer although it would be nice to rid of those pesky microbubbles getting around the tankand have alittle less hardwear to maintain.

    so what would you call over skimming just for a reference . I would'nt pull a cup every 3days but I get next to no flow throu my skimmer ,
    to achive a dry skim:whip: go skimmer go

    um.... a skimmer thats intended for 200g tank on a 55g.

    Im not talking about an el cheapo skimmer, Im referring to an almost commercial grade skimmer such as euroreef/asm/mrc etc. Not the prism or coralife skimmers.

    You hit the nail on the head, nice;D
    Its incouraging to know theirs people here who realy know their stuff im sure you will probably think by now im a mad fish killer :jester: but its just not the case.
    I simply wanted to understand the base principle for changing wet skim to dryskim regardless of make or modle.

    I only have a 46 Gal. tank....knowing this beforehand, could've saved me 165 bucks.
