If I'm not mistaken, these animals are primarily planktivores and would require a large special tank set up to be kept properly, assuming they can be kept at all. They are very delicate creatures (I saw some while diving on the Great Barrier Reef) and can come apart rather easily so I would assume that water flow and other issues would come up if you tried to keep this critter.

I saw one when I bought my toadstool on weds. It is truly beautiful, a pic doesnt do it justice. This one was about 6" in dia. and stunning. I would love to have one, but I dont think its a good idea for my system. Anybody know if its reef safe?

I don't believe that it's reef safe in that the reef isn't safe for them rather than the other way around. :) Too much strong water flow in a reef to keep these critters in my opinion.

I went to my lfs - and asked if i could order one. He said he would but told me they are very difficult to keep and get damaged very easily in transit.
So i think im gonna leave it and wait to see if someone else from here ever gets one and see what their experience is with it.
