Well I know you are very experienced and read the hell out of things so just a friendly reminder go very slow with the Kalk. I was fighting the low ph, alk and cal levels and yes it has done wonders but had my first adverse effect. I believe with my increase in pump output(I have the tunze 3155 which you can adjust flow) increased saturation so I need to cutback from 2 TBSP to 1.5 TBSP and see if that is better. Also with summer the ATO kicks in alot more.

Anywho take it slow.. which I know for us is very hard!

I definitely wouldn't consider myself any type of expert! I just started dripping Kalkwasser into my system via my ATO. My ATO is 15gal and it says to add 2tsp per gallon. I added 10 heaping tsp to my ATO each time I refill it and my Kalk is at 420 now.

What is your ALK running at CB?
I assume you meant Cal is 420 which that is what mine runs at but it is the ALK in mine which is increasing and what I think is Cheryl's biggest concern. Does wonders for the PH also.

Let's not get too crazy there Chris! Yes my Calc is at 420. No clue what my Alk is though. I'm getting there though slowly but surely..

I wouldn't have thought about this until the problem came up. I will have to make sure I monitor my alk and cal with the increasing temperature.

I am manually dosing a very diluted kalk solution, not using the ATO or any dosing pumps. Kalk has always been my first line of defense for lower pH.

This was one of the things I couldn't get past when I saw all the "kalk in ato" setups. There just wasn't a level of consistency and when everything in this hobby preached down is consistency, this way just didn't add up. But it's the cheaper way to add kalk and that I do understand.

I will have to make Kalk in my ATO work for me until i am able to afford dosing pumps. I tried the manual dosing and could not get the consistency and have had a ton more consistency since the kalk introduction. It is very much a cost issue to me, although dosing pumps are on my list of crap to buy. ;)
