ok so around 2am, I'm on 3reef reading post when I hear a dripping noise that is normal:-/ OUR WORST NIGHTMARES!!! well I go check my 40gal(the new setup) looking up down left right but no water....I go to my nano and nothing.....So I go checked the cichlid tanks(40 and 50 gal) and water is everywhere!!!!First thing I did was went for the towels!!!Woke the old lady up and told here to start searching for which tank was leaking, as she did this, I ran to the spare tank(cleaned and ready if this every happened;D) set it in a ok location.....When I get back to the tanks I come to find it's my 50 gal leaking from the bottom...might I add it's upstairs as well!!suxs I know!!! I had her start pulling the equipment out and down to the other tank(hob,heaters,pumps)....I bought a few specimen containers last week......So as I started to save the water in my tank I removed each fish into their own aerated container, got all the water I could and got everything ready in the backup tank....all fish are doing ok today....finish time 530am.....I was little prepaired for this but it still didn't go as smoothly as i wanted.....

So I have a special pantry for this type of problem now....I have enough containers for all my fish now....even inverts....Bought another air pump and more T vavles for it and made a sting of tubes and airstones to go into each container..... A back up power head another backup heater...20 towels only for fish use now(cleanup), stress coat, a backup power supply......everything is organized and ready to go if that happends again.....

Anyone ever went through something like this b4? Hey I look at it like this at least I know what to expect next time and I wont panic as much...hopefully......and thing else you guys think i should buy to help this go smoother next time?(lets hope there's not a next time though)

Wow that stinks. I think that is the biggest fear of anyone in this hobby. out of all the tanks I've had I have never had this happen (knock on wood).
+k for you that is a terrible night.

    Sorry about your nightmare.

I have a love-hate relationship with water. Have had lots of small floods for various reasons. I had to rip down a tank because our washing machine overflowed and saturated the carpet under the tank. Smelled to high heaven.

Horrible way to spend a night. At least you were well prepared.

You would use a fish-safe silicone sealer, and it should be fine, but why did it start leaking? At least your were prepared or else it would have been a longer night.

not sure it had a slow leak out the bottom of it somewhere, right where my kaida(red devil cichlid) digs always.....FYI Kaida means little red dragon...just had to add that I thought it was a good name for a red devil, but she is far from that she is the nicest cichlid Ive ever had
