Is there such a thing as a Reef tanks set up to accomodate a "geographically " correct? type of reef?

For example, The Great Barrier Reef, or like a Red Sea reef?

Does anyone have any links relating to this or can recommend a book? Is anyone doing this?

    Pros....Cons....?

    BL,

I think that instead of being Geographic specific that most reefs are different by their physical shape.

The three main types appear to be:

Fringing reefs, Barrier reefs and Atolls

Maybe an internet search on those terms will scratch your itch :)

Thanks John! I was more curious about if the Animals are the same from area to area....

Like, do the same corals grow in the Atlantic and the Pacific, or are they different. What about fish.... How about Macroalgae......

I guess I am just weird. All my parrots, when I had more than one, were all African parrots......So I thought perhaps a reef setup of "native" to each other flora and fauna... ;D

OH! My apologies, I thought you meant the aquascaping of the tank :)

That's actually a very good question, let's see what we can find :)

An excellent all 'round book that touches on this subject is Tullock's 'Natural Reef Aquariums'
