LOL It's probably cheaper to go here than set up a tank :)

FWIW, an Australian BIOTOPE (the word you'all were looiking for) tank would be impossiable, if you wanted a reef tank. Zero corals, zero rock and zero sand are axported to the US from there. Fish from there are some of the pricest you'll find in the states. Your best bet would be to do a Marshall, Fiji or Indo reef tank as thats our main area's of import.

Fenner has an excellent, and probably the best, book on fish biotopes. I believe the book is called Fish Watchers Guide to the world, or somehing like that. Just do a search for Fenner.

Matt, your welcome to borrow any book you want, I have them all plus more :) Save your money for corals, or give it to me:)

Thanks Gresham for both the vocabulary word I needed and for the heads up on the scarcity of Australian imports....

I had not really gotten that far....It would be a long trip for those critters as well

TY for the reference book as well!! I will look into the recommended Biotopes ;D ;D

I've done a Baja biotope, as well as a Florida mangrove biotope. I've considdered others, like a Tonga tank, but that wil wait till I get my feet onto Tongan soil first.

    I'm all for THAT!....

Dr. Foster's & Smith's website lists under each item , where they are indigenous to...

I am just makin' a wish list ;D

Clarification...If someone can give it please....

I have seen animals from the Indian Ocean (spec. Red Sea Fan) while others are listed as Indo-Pacific.
Is this 2 distinct areas? On my map, they appear to overlap...??Any opinions? Thanks!

    Here ya go

The Indo-Pacific is the aggregate of the Indian Ocean, Pacific Ocean, and the minor seas between the two in the general area of Indonesia. The term is especially useful in marine biology, ichthyology, and similar fields, since many marine habitats are continuously connected from Madagascar to Japan, and a number of species occur over that range, but are not found in the Atlantic Ocean.
