Okay, so i'm trying to decide on a tankmate for my puffer. It's going to be in a 20 gallon tall, FOWLR with my extremly aggressive green spotted puffer. I need a fish that stays small, is very hardy, and will be able to hold its own so if the puffer decides it's lunch. I know damsels would fit the bill, but i just want to see if theres anything else that you guys would suggest. I was kind of hoping for the purple psedochromis but don't know if it's tough enough

would a bicolor angelfish possibly work? Liveaquaria says they need a 30gall tank, semiaggressive. Think he would be able to stand up for himself?

Not enough room for something else IMHO. It's not toughness you really need as size. Damsels will not fit the bill, as they are small enough to fit in the puffers mouth.

I'd have to agree with Pack on this one. May be pushing it with the puffer at that... if it's okay for now I'd stick with it alone and worry about your 46 bowfront and all the pretty corals and fih you can get in there.

    EDIT
If there's one thing I've learned about FOWLR tanks, go big or you'll wish you had. Many fish not suitable for reef aquariums get big and like room to swim in and if I did one I'd do it right and have at least a 75. I know this doesn't help you much but maybe others will benefit from it.
