Looks like it could be coralline, from the way its growing, There are many colors of coralline, the purple is just preferred. Some one else may know better.

Green Coralline. not a regular algae, just coralline. But yea, it looks like crap growing on the side, scrape it off with a razor blade and take a picture so we know its off. Then I will give you some karma. lol.

Maybe something plastic, like a credit card??? I don't have any experience with acrylic though. But many 3reefers do, someone will know how. :)

I was speaking to a buddy recently who had to scrape some coralline off his acrylic tank. He said that credit cards don't work as well as something like a AAA card. I think his point was that you don't really need the rigidity as much as the ability to get in between the glass and the coralline. A triple-A card is very thin. It made me think of my insurance card issued to me by State Farm.

    :hehe:

Not trying to endorse any automotive related companies, but it seems that these two cards are what you may be looking for. :)

I can see someone calling to change their insurance, then saying all they really need is the card for their tank. ;)

And I can already hear State Farm's reply: "Sorry, but we can't help you fill your tank."
