I vote for Tunicate also, because of the holes.

Could be a sponge too but I've never seen one like it :)

Looks too 'crusty' to be a sponge, but what would I know :)

It actually looks like a tunicate that has managed to grow underneath something else. That's what I would have guess until I saw the smaller one which has a similar pattern.

I tell you what though if this turns out to be BL's imaginative use of Playdough there will be hell to pay :)

Maybe we should ask her to test it for crustiness? :)

BL: Have you touched it? Is it soft, hard, squishy?

It is soft, like skin, not really crusty....
When I touch it, the little cracks close up...

I am not that talented with PlayDoh although that would be pretty funny!

So perhaps I have discovered a new animal! Hmmmmm, what would I name it......???

I wonder if you might be seeing the morphology of a clam or bivalve

Cool! I've really never seen anything like it but if I had to guess, I'd say tunicate or sponge.

I've already proven that I'm not good at naming things but I'll try. It's weird, a little soft, looks crusty and twitches when you poke it....do you see where I'm going with this? :)
