I have read how some anemones sometimes cause color changes in clowns I was wondering if I put a pair of picasso's into a tank with long tentacle anemones will these anemones cause the clowns to loose thier color?

Never heard of that, I have however heard that clowns do change colors as they grow older. Where did you read this? Luna

and your picassos might never host the anemone. I have picasso (had a pair...1 just died from being egg bound) and and Rose BTA....never hosted it or even got close to the anemone. Make sure your tank is old enough and established enough to handle one what ever you get

How old is the tank and what lighting do you have? Be sure you can properly care for the anemone and deal with the consiquences before considering one

+1 on these guys. I also used a picture trick that was posted on this website. I got my maroon clown to host on a sebae anemone and they aren't compatible according to most charts.

picassos are tank bred also and most of them have never seen an anemone in their lives untill you introduce them. With that being said, my bi racial couple (black perc and orange oscillaris sp) took about a year before they decided to host and they looked over my bubble tip and went for a simple rock anemone that is about the same width as my orange clown is long. They can be weird like that. Also before you decide on an anemone, be sure that you are willing to feed it and take care of it because I don't care what lighting you have, if the animal isn't fed, it will die.

I read an article somewhere I will look for it saying that, not picassos but onyx and some perculas will loose color sometimes when hosting certain anemones I just wasn't sure if there was any truth to this or not

I have a 20g tank that I just got from a friend and transfered everything together and the tank has been set up for about 11 months. As for lighting I have 130 watts of pc. Currently in the tank is a 3in sandbed, liverock, a coco worm, scooter blenny, and a long tentacle anemone which i feed 3 times a week some silversides.

I cant tell the difference between the Picasso and the False Ocellaris. The only difference that I can see is the price tag. Luna

Really? I mean when the picassos are younger they look similar somewhat but once they start getting mature I dont think there is really a comparison. I agree with the price tag on the piccasos are rediculous I work at a fish store so I get them very cheap thats why I bought them.

Picassos are a mutation that the breeders have selected for from perculas.
