You sure... According to live aquaria a clown tang is min. 250g. have you sucessfully housed a full grown clown tang in a 165?...i hope not. that would be extremly unreasonable. Then again iv never had any experience with large tangs so i would be getting all my info from very general guidlines from the internet.

No it wasnt mean it was honest.

Notice the type of tangs I keep? Far too many people generalize tangs with no knowledge of how they can live together, very well I might add- mine even school together.

When Matt get's me the program I need to upload super 8 I will show you just how well 6 Tangs and many other critters can live together.

Stop believeing all the crap on the net, if you havent done it, if you dont have first hand experience- why post?

you have no business being an aquarist if you cant even respect your fish, or the people on this site, i have argued with you on several threads and your info you get must be from a very unreliable source. if your going to give info out on this forum you must back it up with proof. 6 tangs in a 165 is practically animal abuse yet you are defending this saying its fine?! this just proves your level of maturity.

Lets not forget all that light loving coral you have either, let's face it, if we can do it so can they, we just need to teach them how- this is why we are here....no?

Nobody said SW was easy, but it's certainly not hard either, you just need to follow certain rules, and of these only three are set in stone:

    Water Quality
    Lighting
    Over Feeding

Keep these in correct fashion, the sky is the limit. :)

i was simply saying he cant have 6 tangs in a freaking 165! thats insane! you shouldnt even have 4 tangs in that. also liveaquaria isnt exactly reliable for resources clown tangs only get that large in the wild you could easily house one in a 180. look im on your side against the tangs being in too small a tank.

i have already pm'd you, how does this prove my inexperience. i believe its vice versa. im the one giving quality information and you are the one trying to inhibit me from doing so. i would advise nobody listen to your advice for fear of things going wrong because thats what will happen. i follow all the rules applies to reef keeping, i never overstock tanks and never wait less than a year for a nem. therefore showing your lack of experience ind oing both of these things.

Funny how people argue about size of tank for a tang. Who on this hobby has a tank long enough for a tang to grow to it's maximum size. Very few. I know I started planning to get a new tank just a couple years after getting my 225. It hasn't happened yet but there is no urgency either. My purple tang was the size of a nickel with his fins extended when I purchased him. Today 11 years later he is only 4.5" long. He is also a fat porker. I still have yet to see the 10" purple tang that everyone says they get to. I just don't think these fish don't achieve maximum size in our tanks because there is no urgency to breed. They know the environment is not condusive to breeding so there is no rush to grow. In the wild that purple tang would have only taken 1 year to get to 5" in length. Maybe it's diet though but who knows. I doubt that because public aquarium's fish grow nearly at the pace of wild which makes me go back to environment size.

I'd love to see someone show me a pic of a clown tang raised from a juvenile in a 250-300g tank that has grown to 15" long. I have seen many in tanks for over 10 years that have not exceeded 8" and those were already 5" fish when they were purchased. Call me a sceptic but I just don't see it and I've been around an awful lot of large hobbyist tanks.

Guys please tell me a 15 year old did not just question the maturity of a 46 year old.
