I have two things that i cannot identify on my live rock. in picture number one, i have a small white tube (which is affixed and never moves) protruding off of my rock. it shoots out a long white thread (4 or 5 inches) and slowly reels it back in. ( i only have a picture of it with the long thread in, not out) pic on left

next, i have these growths on my rocks that look like roots and every few inches there is a white feather duster shape growth. pic on right

    any explanations?
    thanks

    vermatids on the left
fan or tube worms on the right

    the latter is great IME
The former can cause issues to corals placed close by - I had a leather coral that was irritaded by the thread coming across it
you can snap them off or cover them with a dab of putty or glue if this happens

they are filter feeders, and attractive IMO - hence I think they are great

I was fortunate enough to get some red feathered ones on my last set up
