In my tank in the last couple days I've noticed that I have stringy stuff, that's relatively short, but appears like a spider web almost. Most of it is too small or is destroyed before I get a picture, but I'll try and post one if no one knows what I'm talking about... Any thoughts anyone?

I beleive they are sea squirts. They let out their web when you disturm the tank and make any type of debris in the water column. They let out their mucas web then reel it in to eat what they catch. YUMMY.

From looking on the web, and what little photos there are, they sure sound like the vermetid snails, little coiled shell type thing on the bottom that points out and the web seems to come from there. Have had the tank up for some time now (going on a year) and have never noticed the webs before - you think I just missed them before, or is there something that's causing them to "spin" them?

It's quite possible that you either didn't see them before or that your tank is finally mature enough to support them or that you introduced them into the tank on a piece of rock and/or coral....or all of the above :)

Sea squirts, like sponges, siphon the water for their food. :)
