What are these?

    I don't think they are due to bad water personally. I had a ton of them shortly after starting my tank up. They diminish in numbers over time.

    Not really a sign of bad water; almost all established reefs have them in dark places. All it takes is enough available nutrients to sustain them, and that's not much.
