This all sounds far too healthy for me. Over here in Scotland you can get just about any food you want put through the deep fat fryer first.

I've never brought myself to try it but my local take away does a "deep-fried kebab pizza". And yes it is a pizza, topped with kebab meat, covered in batter and then chucked in the deep fat fryer!

And people wonder why Scotland is the unhealthiest country in Europe;D

Well is it from where I was born or where I've lived...
    Born -
Key West: Lots of cuban food (my sinful pleasure is fresh cuban bread and coffee or cuban bread covered in picadillo or ropa vieja with some black beans) and seafood

    Lived -
Maryland (overall DC area): Very ethnically diverse, no way to pinpoint one thing
    Panama: Hispanic foods
    Spain: Gazpacho, fries with EVERYTHING
Puerto Rico: Pernil, quenepas, culantro/recao etc...
New Jersey: Real pizza, pierogis, pork butt and cabbage, boiled spare ribs and kraut etc....

grits(of course), purple hull peas, butter beans, fatback, fried catfish, brim, bluegill or bass, hush puppies, slaw, cat head biscuits, cream potatoes, corn bread, snap beans, collards/turnips....wow what else can I think of? Most of that I won't eat or cook, but it's southern, from this region.

I cook mainly "northern", with German and Polish heritage influences. He's from the south, I'm from the north. Hubby loves my pork chops in Marsala wine gravy, spaetzel, and "Momma Salad". He also likes a nice chewy toasted onion bagel with cream cheese!

Despite being Swedish and living in Scotland, I grew up in England and thats generally the food that I prefer.

There's nothing better than a nice big plate of roast beef and yorkshire pudding with lots of veg and horseradish sauce.:chef:

Just to remind Tangster what he's missing...

Country ham biscuits and Virginia (sometimes incorrectly called NC) barbecue.

Roger, I promise to think of the you the next time I'm in Bill's Barbecue eating a minced pork with a large LimeAide.

I had the Bill's BBQ service contract for many yr's ate tons of them and grew up just off the Boulevard at Cary st and hung on Myers every Friday and sat night getting drag races together I liked BILL's for sure is Va BBq still up across from the Diamond ? I was just there 3 yrs ago and can't recall .. When FFV used to bake the girl scout cookies next door on Myers st and then the BBq we all just hung around more drove in circles all night

The Va BBq used to have some good BBQ and over on the Pike at Wamsley Blvd is Hanks BBq ever tried them ? Man now I have to get some wood together and fire up the smoker I brought BBq up here to Yankee land and having spent lots of time along the Mississippi coast over to Naw'leans and a still friendly ex mother inlay and Cajun I have a flare with many of those local dishes :) Damn now I'm hungry .. Thanks Buddy I'm Hungry and homesick and cold ):

Oh go check out Charily Brock on Rt just south of the Ct house Complex he is a retired State Trooper who went into the BBq game he is in the water tower shopping center on Iron gate Road..aka Rt 10 :) Hush Puppies YUUUM. Ever been to the smoky pig in Ashland ? I took Amcarrig there few times. She is now a BBq snob :)
