We do 5 or less gallon water changes (depending on the tank) in a 5g bucket. We have 5 powerheads on rotation, 4 in the 46 reef and 1 in the mixing bucket (as one in the tank gets dirty or gunky, it gets pulled out, super cleaned, and the one that was in the bucket goes into the tank and the newly cleaned one goes on water mixing duty). We also have a spare heater to heat the water up.

Dump salt in (we measure it out where it'll give us 1.024), dump in water, set heater to 78, turn powerhead on, and drop in a temp gauge. Sometimes we use the water as soon as it hits 78, and sometimes we procrastinate and it gets to sit over night.

i used to just fire it into a 5 gallon bucket and roll, lately i have been placing a powerhead and a heater in the bucket and letting it stir until its up to temp, my tanks inhabitants dont seem to care either way though!

Ive done it all ways described, to me it depends on my schedule for that day of the wc. I have a 25g brute trashcan, fill it up to what i want to change, add salt, stir with a very large mashing spoon, let it sit come back hr later and do it again till its all mixed then let it sit overnight and dump into tank, i only get a 1 degree drop when i put it into the tank. Fish and corals have no prob with it.

I mix in a 5 gallon pail, throw in an old maxi jet and heater. When I did regular water changes I would do this right after my water change so it was ready next time I needed it (small weekly changes). And that way I wouldn't forget to do it a couple days in advance. Because I did it for a week I would put the lid on, but the lid had a 3 inch hole in it. With out the lid I would get too much evaporation.

Mix the day before in a 5 gallon bucket with a powerhead and adjust parameters if needed.

i just heat up my water, throw the salt in stir it vigorously a couple times, let it clear up and then pour it in. I pour it in very slowly as well into the back chamber of my cube? Seems to work just fine
