We use rubbermaid trash cans with an RO/DO line attached to a float valve that is plumbed into the side of each can. Each has it's own pump/heater inside.

The pump can be connected to a hose so that the water can easily be moved into the tanks. When it's not connected to a hose, it does a good job of stirring the water around inside the tank. We just pour the salt straight in and even though it's dissolved almost instantly with all that movement, we wait and measure the salinity after a half hour so that it's had more than enough time to dissolve.

I use a 40g water softener container and have a modded MJ1200 in there for mixing. Keep it full of SW just in case of accident.

i fill 30g bucket with RODI have a power head with air intake (for aerating..:p) and circulation. heat bucket to ~80, pour salt in when water get to about 70 bc it dissolves quicker in warm water. then age the water 24-48hrs and re-test SG. have bucket covered but not air tight. I think i am the millionth person to say the exact same thing. I had just asked about treating RODI water b4 adding to tank and wanted to know about adding any additives to pure RODI saltwater and got some feedback saying to add supplements like mag or cal if you know your tank will be depleted of some during WC.

We dose our supplements/additives in the aquarium as needed. Our salt gets the water to the proper levels on mag/cal and most everything else on it's own. On occasion, we may modify the pH slightly in the mixing can to compensate for the tank being a bit off (this helps shift the pH more gradually since we only do 10% water changes at a time), but other than that nothing goes into our mixing containers other than RODI and Salt.
