OK OK, I have read every post! I consider that the MAG pumps are the best in cost - efficiency relation, the Eheim pumps are excellent but the cost it's a little more expensive than the MAG's, I wanna buy another MAG 7, thank you every body for the comment, I think this post was very helpful and will be for other people like me...

IN the 10+ years I've been running my Eheim I have gone through dozens of Mags on other tanks. There truly is no comparison in terms of longevity. But, the Mag7 is a dang good pump. 9.5's seem to have an issue as I've gone through twice as many of them as any other Mag pump.

I had a mag9 on my 90g as a return. It went south and the actual case/ body took a dive as it only throws GFCI's even with a new or known good magnet/ impeller.

I then put a quiet one 3000 on in the same piping as the mag9, and even thought eh mag had about 170 gph more flow supposedly than the QO3000, the quiet one flows more out the nozzles in the tank than the mag. The mag9 used 93 watts, and the QO uses 40. That is a big difference since the pumps are always on.

The QO3000 was not new, and has no issues, and does not run hot. I know that some folks write that the large QO pumps, which the 3000 is not a large one, are anything but quiet. Perhaps those ones are hot running too?

I really like that the QO pumps have actual threaded intake and exhausts, and are 1" intake and exhaust MPT versus the 3/4" inch on even the largest magdrive pumps.

For my new 200g, I just got another new QO3000. I have yet to run it, but I don't anticipate any issues with it since I know these pumps are good.

FWIW the QO3000 puts out 780 gph, the mag7 is what 700 gph, and the QO4000 is over 1000gph. the QO3000 would be the right pump to directly translate to the mag7 for gph numbers.

Also, Fosters and smith has the QO3000 on sale for like 44 dollars. I just bought mine. Also, if you look, there isa 5 dollar off coupon code to apply to any purchase. Being that DFS is in Wisconsin, I ordered yesterday before noon, and it was delivered Today (well Thursday;)) with only ground shipping. Gotta love that.

The pump question really depends on how much water you need to move, and if it's gonig to be internal/ external kind.

OK, I'm agree with you people, the pump depends of the water that I need to move! I prefer the MAG7, I have an idea! somebody have the drawing of the impeller for the MAG7? Probably I could modify the impeller to run more gallons! Please send me the drawing, I can do a better impeller, thank you all
