I have the 48" Coral Life Pro with 2 96 watt actinics, and 2 150w double ended HIQ MH. I assume the lights are the standard Coral Lifs. They were replaced by the previous owner.

It is over my 90g softie/LPS tank. I will be time for new bulbs soon. So what are my options? Different bulbs. If I wanted 250w MH, I have to switch ballasts right? Is that light good enough for my system?

for softie and lps?? yeah that's plenty, even some sps toward the top given your tank is stable. I would go with something like a phoenix 14,000k for a new bulb. Great par and great color.

That's what I was wondering. I pretty sure that I have the standard 10,000K Coral Life bulbs. I like it because it is MH, but because it looks like sunlight. In the sense that it is yellow though. I would not mind a shift towards blue as long as it is right for the corals.

I have the same fixture on a 90g, I am currently running the Megacrome Marine (12.5~13k). I have found the 2x150's + 2cf are plenty of light for my tank, even for the sps corals near the bottom.

Converting that fixture would be far more of a pain than what it would be worth IMO.

It very well may be a pain but all personal preference. plus depends what corals you want to keep.

I myself am actually upgrading my lights tommorow. I purchased 2 250w galaxy electronic ballast, 2 250w phoenix 14k's, new lamp to ballast cables due to existing cables are under rated in terms of amps, and finally some new sockets.

Im excited and cant wait. never performed this type of operation.;)
