A conch will stir the sandbed a lot, which prevents the sand from being "stagnant" per say..which makes it very hard for cyano to develop, but if you already have cyano bacteria, and you dont get rid of the source...it will just continue to grow...

holy crap 160ppm in nitrates...um yeah...thats high...lol if your nitRITES are at 0 and your Ammonia is at 0 then do a water change...like 10 gallons..make sure ur using ro/di water to do the water change..i'd stay away from prime and stuff right now...only use that in emergencies...since this tank just cycled (or is in the process) using a chemical to reduce things will not help establish a healthy environment...go natural its way better, water changes water changes water changes :)

and you gotta get them nitrates WAY down if your planning on putting an invertebrate in there to clean ur sandbed...putting an invert in a tank with 160+ppm nitrate is a death sentence.

lol i'm confused....but here is what your game plan should be...in the new tank..make sure its finished cycling...if it has, do a water change..then in about a week or so, do another water change...and so on, until those nitrates drop way down...if it is cyano bacteria (more slimy looking stuff) use a substrate vaccuum and get out as much as possible...and dropping the nitrates will help in ur battle BIG TIME...no conch for the new tank yet, because its probably not live enough to support one..in the old tank how big is it? I would say if its a year old than it would be capable of supporting a conch..

ok i had two tanks... i got a new one... so i took evry thing in the sea horse tank and put it in the new tank(so that means water and stuff so it didnt need to cycle)nd i put empty one in my garage(so thats non-existant)... so not the new one but the original one has the160pp nitrate and the new tank is fine Does that make sense hahah
