I have had a pair of tank raised Black and White Clownfish (Amphiprion ocellaris) in my tank since the beginning of the tank. I purchased a RBTA 2 weeks ago hoping they would host in it but they have not even looked twice at the anemone. They host my powerhead, swimming on top and behind the powerhead at night.

I really want hosting clowns in my tank and from what I've been reading the Ocellaris clowns don't take to RBTAs well especially tank bred ones.

I tried the night time moving of the fish with my hand and it was pretty cool I was able to coax the clowns all the way across the tank over by the anemone but they still didn't want anything to do with it.
So I was thinking on trading the clowns in for a different species that host RBTAs normally. Which species host bubble tips the best?

I don't know anything about the species of clowns/anemone's(google is great) but I have heard a ton of people who have printed off pics of clowns hosting anemone's and taped it to their tanks. It is supposed to get them to mimic the picture. I have often wondered if the clowns think they are back in the ocean and just trying to follow what their neighbors are doing. It has worked for some, hasn't for others. Might be worth a try if your attached to the one's you have.

I tried taping the pics but it didn't work.

I never got my ocellaris to host my GBTA. I purchased a small tomato clown and he started hosting it after about a month.

It is hit and miss I think! I have 2 picassos. Neither one would have anything to do with my RBTA. Then the female died and several months later I bought a new picasso. That one immediately took to the anemone. I thought for sure that my older one would follow suit..but I dont think he knows how to? He has tried and never gets down to the right spot. So to this day he still will not host..I have 1 clown that does and 1 that will not
