On page 3 of my tank thread you can see a side by side of my tank with a blue and a black background. It really depends on your aquascape. If you are going to have a tank that is almost all rock and coral then it probably doesn't matter. If you have blue .. better have access to clean it. I like the underwater look.. black with pink is an eyesore to me.

Was black, now it's blue Like Av8 says I like the shimmer effect and I do keep the parts I can see scraped clean.

I have black on my FOWLR tank and blue on my reef tank.
I think the black is easier to care for...less algea is shown. However it seems darker. The blue shows more algea but in my opinion it opens the tank up somewhat. However it is hard to say because the lighten conditions on the two tanks are EXTREMELY different. I have T5HO, MH and LCD's on my reef tank and I have PC lighting in my FOWLR tank.

My other 3 tanks are nano's so they all have black on it.

I am in the processs of changing mine I have a blue paper back ground. It is starting to wrinkle. I ordered in about 4 different colors of plexie glass. I found the right color blue. I am using 1/8 inch thick reef color blue. Since I am an electrican It will be lighted with about 36 leds. The Lights are super high dollar but I have them from a job. The sheet of plexie glass was 70$. I tried this with sample glass and looks so cool. The sheet of glass should be here in two weeks. I will post pictures then.

I like black because it doesn't look as dirty as blue can get. I've had both and they are both nice, just prepare to clean the blue wall to keep the look you want. I used Sea View to attach the plastic sheet. All you do is put it on evenly and spread it around and then squeegy it out to the ends of the glass. Looks awesome! Check out the pictures.

It really adds depth.............Dark blue is good from what I hear. Mine is turning purple anyway.
