what coral is this?

    got it from a local pet store under assorted coral. anyone know what this is or have any info on it?

    looks like goniopora to me. A very challenging coral to keep. Unfortunately it requires a specific water chem, failure to provide results in its death!

    Good look tho!

    Yup Goniopora. And yes very challenging. It's funny how there always being sold as easy or misc coral

    I was told by a LFS once that the "flower pot" version (like the one pictured) is much much harder than the branching type. Branching type being much more forgiving.

    I'll never own one again. If your LFS had it under asst. corals, you may want to educate them. Unless they knowingly sold it regardless of demise. I'd return it for something else.

    I had one for around 6 months , allot of target feeding it had gotten brown jelly which striped about half of it before I was able to get it under control.
    it slowly declined after that.

    they are a nice looking coral but one many think should be left in the sea ,because of its extreamly high death rate in home aquaria,
    enjoy it well it lasts or tack it back for a trade.

    thanks for all the info guys. unfortunatly the pet store has a no return policy. lesson learned from me. dont buy something if i dont know what it is. i am seeing if anyone in my reef club wants to trade for it
