All very good points. I did not go the cheap route at all for my overflow/sump system and after looking at the product I received from LifeReef I'm glad I didn't. I was just hoping to skimp on the light as my original plans were to go FOWLR.

So any particular fixtures people would recommend? Am I looking at a 3x 400w MH system? Should I go with 1 72" fixture or two 36" ones?

If I go with the MH fixture will I still be able to keep zoas and mushrooms or will it be too much for them? Zoas in particular looks awesome to me so I plan on having a lot of them.

my 180 has 3x250 watt MHs and 2x160 watt VHOs and i can keep anything from low light shrooms and zoas to high light SPS, your tank is 7 inches deeper then mine but i would still think 250's would be fine as long as you where to keep sps mid to high and everything else low...... id also go with one large fixture

If you are doing softies then your original fixture would suffice.

Not in my book, I would suggest looking for T5HO instead of PC for the supplemental lighting. Just a lot better quality and efficient lighting.

I run 2 x evo 1050 in my 55g and want more flow. So in your tank you may need a bit more that that.

You could also hang a few pendants and t5hos and hide it up in a canopy. It would be a lot cheaper.

that is a very cool light. but it's like showing us a Ferrari. A complex microprocessor to simulate moonlighting precisely? Awesome!! Worth it... if you have the money for it I guess...

There are much cheaper ways to go about it. But I agree, if your goal is to save money you only want to buy equipment once. It's expensive enough as is.

Pendents are a nice direction to look.
