I have a 77 gallon tank and a 30 also. Everytime I buy bunch of hermit crabs they disapear, the ones in the 30 gallon are fine. I am suspecting the 6 line wrasse, soon as he came I lost one cleaner shrimp, all the crabs, my dragonet (found out why later) and my heniochius also died. I have alot of green hair algea, I've got the cause fixed so now I am working on getting the hair out so I've ordered a sea hare and meanwhile keep adding crabs but they vanish. Is the wrasse? I also have in there a yellow tang, blue hippo tang, two convict blennies, a firefish goby, foxface and a cardinal banghai. Can someone help me?? Who do I need to get rid of?

Do you have any other inverts? snails, shrimps etc?

I dont see anything on that list that could make a meal of armoured inverts

two peppermint shrimps, a few astrea snails, suppose they are hiding real well?? In my 30 gallon I can pick them out real quick but in the 77 there should be over 15 and I don't find one!

They could be battling for shells and getting picked off by fish when they get evicted.. I watched it happen in my tank, I was shocked..

i don't think a 6 line is even capable of this... they eat little pods with that little mouth...

could be wrong though... my 6line has never seemed to even notice my crabs

Are you sure they just aren't hiding and waiting for night. I've noticed mine do this quite a bit. I look in all over the place during the day and won't see a single one. Then at night they all come out.

OOOHHH, yeah... as cool as those shrimp are, they are voracious eaters of shell dwelling inverts.
