what crab is this?

can anyone tell me what type of crab is this? is it dangerous? i caught it from the beach nearby. its always only at the bottom and now im thinking of raring some gobies and shrimps, so im wondering if this crab is gonna harm my fish/shrimp

 

Interesting looking crab. I dont have a clue if its safe tho. Most crabs are opportunistic feeders. Usually the general rule is, if its pincers a pointed and black it aint safe. But with yours the pincers are pointed but arent black.

I hope someone can give you a definite ID, if not you could just go with the innocent until proven guilty idea.

Check out Portunidae or the Swimming crab - all the legs on that crab are set for swimming (paddles), this should help you ID it.

I think it also looks like a porcelain crab too.

 

After some long research and dead ends, i have found that it is part of the family of "Calappidae" The Scientific name of the crab is "Matuta banksii"

I'm not sure what dat is, but it ain't no porclein crab.

It looks like it probably loves fresh fish and shrimp. Relocation advised.

Claws give me pause, I would say it most likely end up being a problem.

It's not a Calappidae. It's a Matutidae.

They're aggressive predators that can swim and catch fish. I would remove it.
