So I get home after working a double and this chick I'm seeing, surprised me with 2 new fish... ALREADY in my tank
a huge 4" yellow striped clown and big yellow tang....
I've had a blue/green chromis in there for about 2 weeks, and she thought "he looked lonely"

my tank has only been cycling for 3 weeks, the yellow tang was part of my stocking list but I've read to add him last

I've already purchased a small matched pair (misbar & dominoe) clown that my LFS is holding... I was waiting till week or 8 to add them

the LFS where she purchased them is not being very helpful
so what do I do now?

Try and see if an LFS could hold onto the tang and take the clown back if you don't want it. Otherwise, see if another reefer in the area could hold onto them for a couple months. If you can't get rid of them, I would try using a product like bio-spira or stability to see if you can cut the cycle short. I would say there's very little to no chance of a tang surviving a cycle, even the hardiest of them, the yellow tang.

    Good luck ! ! ! !

How big is your tank ? I heard about puttin the yellow tank in last as well, but the guys on this forum said no worries go for it when u are ready

U have to have a "chat" about her longevity in he relationship and if she touches he tank again , you may feed her to the fishes !

    LoL

If you can not find another local reefer to hold the fish or get the LFS you ordered the clown pair from to hold the tang and trade for the other clown, buy some Seachem Prime or similar product to keep the ammonia and nitrite down and try cycle reducing products. Test the two parameters often and do lots of water changes. Keep the lights off during this process to keep stress to a minimum.

Gently explain the problem this has cause to your loving significant other.

oh damn stepping on the territory. Shot I would see if the LFS you have holding your other fish will hold these for you. As far as the clown is it a maroon? I would return that clown if they allow you as if it lives it may become territorial and when you add the other clowns down the road cause issues.

Shot I would see if that LFS will take them both back as they should really have asked how long the tank has been running(another lfs that only cares about money in my opinion).

The more .02 offered the better. You may have an option no one considered or you will be confirming what every one thinks making it easy for the OP to be comfortable with the advice given.

Multiple nets and removing rock if necessary as this will be faster than trying to trap the fish. That is specially important in this situation. You need to move the fish out quickly and you will not cause your cycle to slow down.

make her catch them she put them in:LolLolLol:

It is never an easy task to get them out once their in. I usually use a 2 net tactic with a feeding but always end up with a stiff neck. Other people have had good luck with traps(do a search on 3reef as some people have made some DIY and had good luck). The hard one will be the tang in my experience usually resulting in destruction of the aquascape.
