You don't even need the extra rocks in there. Your tank has enough area for bacteria to grow. Chaeto is for nutrient export, nitrate and phosphate. You want a bright light very close to the chaeto, with it on mostly opposite the tank lights. I have mine on for 18 hours now. The idea is to get it to grow fast, so that when it's trimmed, you are removing nutrients.

+1 on getting your own Rodi. Mine live in the cabinet under my bathroom sink and screws into my faucet. very low impact on my life and nice to have.

No, the chaeto needs to float in water, and you don't want it getting into the return pump. Having a RODI unit will save you time and money all around. Lugging water around is no fun.

Your powerheads can be pointed towards the surface, towards each other, or bounced off of the front or back glass to create more turbulence. Surface is good for better gas exchange.

so i talked to my lfs on the phone today and he said that i most likely have velvet he said to mix garlic in with the food and he aslo recomended selcon like product to feed them but he said that he had a product that is reef safe to treat the tank with but said that it would help the fish since its already infected. he said to just see how the fish is doing and if it gets to bad to take it out freeze it and then toss it in garbage. so all the other fish (clowns and chromises) look good the tank dosnt look worse since i started feeding it garlic.
