spectrapure RO/DI unit!! They have a 3 stage for 145 bucks and it was the best thing I bought for my setup. The convenience of an RO/DI unit far exceeds the price you pay. It beats hauling water and dealing with alternatives (tap water/distilled) and the many problems that they will cause... IMO this is a MUST NEED piece of equipment.

I'm almost on board with you there, I have 2 home depot 5 gallon buckets that I lug to my lfs, it's getting to where I will almost pay for a unit in just 2 years if I go ahead and buy it now. I'm getting a work out every week....but I don't like carrying those things THAT much.

I see you say you are going to have to siphon out the freshwater.

Did you ever treat your FW fish with copper meds in that tank? If so you won't be able to use it for a reef.

your not cycling anything by letting it sit stagnant with no form of ammonia for 6 weeks if he gets his live rock shipped than it would be best to wait 5-6 weeks considering the ammonia levels in the water most people buy there liverock fully cured now and that waiting time isent needed where i live

Okay, So i did not want to take the risk of using that tank so I kept it freshwater, and started a new community. And therefore I'm going to buy a new 55 Gallon tank for saltwater. The stupid guy at the LFS told me Tiger Barbs aren't aggressive. Bought them home, and they were just babies. They all teamed up on my bettas. and nipped them nearly to death.

I like to call it some non organized pile of crap;D just kidding, A sump is used to house skimmers, heaters, reactors, filter media, etc. some bio sumps(refugiums) to house cheato, macro algae, mangroves,DSB,and copepods. They are VERY helpful.
