Along with my feather dusters, I also have these purple/red things sprouting up all over the place. They are mostly composed of one column with slight stubby like branches, it looks like cotton rolled together. I should have a pic by tomorrow, but do they sound like sponges to anyone?

Could be sponges or a type of forameriferans. A pic will help make a positive ID though :)

2+ to that. i have red sponges, blue sponges and the traditional yellow sponges, all have a different textures and shapes. all are beneficial i feel, but if they do die then they could polute the water.

Sorry I uploaded it wrong, what is this one- The first picture does not do much but just sit there. the second one does not go in at night, and it goes in when easily startled.

sound good! and good to see! that means you are well on your way to a good looking tank. looking at the red stuff again in the second tank, it looks like it may be coralites, they are harmless pinkish red growths on the rock. ill get some more info for you!
