    Hey all,
What do you all add to your ato water? I notice that I have to add alot of two part (mostly alk) to my tank on a weekly basis to keep my alk and cal levels at the proper levels. I know when it's low because my ph goes crazy. I'm almost sure it's because of the 10 gal of evaporation a week... I just use straight ro water and very low peramiters ph cal kh and sorts... So how can I make little less work?

I don't put anything in the ATO water since evaporation changes from day to day and season to season. I do use dosers for Ca and alk.

I guess I need to see what my cal and alk usage is so I know how much I need to add on a daily / weekly basis I guess...

That would be your best plan of action. If you have SPS the more often you dose the better. Make sure you dose Ca and alk at least 30 min apart. An hour would be better so the do not react together and precipitate out before they can be used by your coral.

I've been dosing both at the same time also. Doing so for the last 6+ months and haven't noticed any issues. Ca/alk have always been well balanced. Is this not right?

It's best to dose them as 2in10 mentioned:

Make sure you dose Ca and alk at least 30 min apart. An hour would be better so the do not react together and precipitate out before they can be used by your coral

I add kalk and vinegar, but most people shouldn't add anything but water...

And more times than not alk has nothing to do with PH swing. PH is a very poor indicator of what your alk is doing.
