I might drive by the scene after I dispatched a major fire but other than that when I'm not at work I don't much want to listen to radio chatter. I give you props for starting a business that is also a hobby..

Im a recovering workaholic - its now been 5 years since I last did a dam thing

Im actually between positions at present, I have worked 28 years in a UK lighting import company
and oversee our logistics, quality and technical needs with an office in China with 18 people

Im looking for a new position at present
    Im considering

    Santa Clause
Official soccer world cup programme seller
    Haileys comet close proximity observer

I believe all the above jobs would be ideally suited to me being a world ranked layabout

Deputy Director for Design Integration of the Constellation Program

Constellation is the basically the entire manned spaceflight program replacing the Space Shuttle. Ares I rocket for crew launch, Ares V rocket (Saturn V equivalent) for heavy lift, Orion (the Apollo capsule on steroids), Space Suit, Launch facilities in Florida, Mission Control and Crew Training Facilities. My office is responsible for making sure it all works.

My 14 year old son has a definition of a 'cool job'. "If you can walk into any elementary school in the country and the kids want to hear about what you do, then you have a cool job." I guess I do.... and they even pay me. I count myself very fortunate.

You know... I almost didn't reply to this for fear it would sound like bragging... Not my intent, what do I say?? That is what my job is... I know you were just ribbing me. :)

It is a sweet job. The responsibility is a lot. My daughter was 4 years old when the Columbia Accident occurred. She defined Daddy's job as "he keeps the Astronauts safe". That morning she asked me if I "didn't do my job right". That was hard.

That stress is why I have sought out reefing as a hobby. I just sit in front of the tank and the stress melts away. I like the tinkering as well.

Just cutting up. I know you wasnt bragging. Thats why I started the thread was to learn what kind of people are into the hobby. There are people on here that have the average to the extremely hectic loads of responsibility jobs. Ive had both. Its intresting to me the things that people do for a living. To me you got one of the rare jobs that a lot of us dream of having. at least we think we do. thanks for posting.
