Network Engineer. I primarily stay in an office and respond to down or malfunctioning network equipment and servers. Then there is the preventative maintenance. Installing patches and backing up configs on switching is DULL but pays well.

    Eric in VA.

Many funny and interesting stories, mostly involving intoxicated people. Unfortunately also some sad ones.

I too am a tractor trailer driver. I got into driving after I was laid off back in July I must give my wife credit for taking care of the tank while I am gone. Without her I would have to give up the hobby.

You know, I would have said the same about my job... some funny stories involving intoxicated people and some sad ones... :)

I bet you've got some extremes on both of those.

I'm a full time college student at the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga, and I jump around from seasonal job to seasonal job on the side. I spent a summer working for the Tennessee Aquarium (mainly in the gift shop, but I had some awesome off-the-clock experiences). I also worked at the Rock City Corn Maze this past September and October in Maze Operations. I was mainly the hay ride driver (heck yeah), but I also had to dig ditches to drain water, lay down hay, haul more hay, go around starting the various campfires, and once I had to clean the bathrooms which resulted in me having to stand o top of a toilet with a plunger and having to put my whole body weight into the plunger to unclog the thing. I was the only employee who was able to unclog it, and of course my co-workers got a picture of me doing it. I never came home clean from that job. Some days I was covered head to toe in mud, and some other days it wasn't to bad. But my white uniform shirt never came home white.

I also worked at a popular YMCA summer camp, and I plan on going back there this summer.

All of my seasonal jobs have been bare minimum wage, but they've also been the most fun jobs I've ever had in my life  Which is why I may be interested in working in larger seasonal vacation-style jobs. Like working with Colorado Ski Company (in charge of 40+ ski resorts) or something like that.

I'm a high school student who sound this site when I was startign my research project. I am also a kennel assistant at my local vet, where I am now the girl who has been working there the longest. I love working with all the animals, even if I spend most of my time at work cleanign cages and scooping poop. At least now I can beat my cousins with gross-out stories at family get-togethers ;) In all seriousness, I am very lucky to have my job, because many of my friends in school can't find work now with the state of the economy. I started the summer before freshman year, about 2.5 years ago, and now I have a very secure place in the hospital.
