Been reading several what do you do with BLAH threads lately it seems like.

Got me thinking, what do you do with the water from your test vials when you're through with the tests?

Is this stuff harmful to the environment? Biodegradable?

Just kiddin... I just dump down the drain when I clean out my test vials. I was under the impression they were safe for the environment. Now you have me wanting to check... I'll tag along here :0

Actually if you read what the chemicals actually are, some are fairly dangerous and harmful. Some contain hydrocholoric acid and various other irritants and potentially harmful chemicals. Although the acid is probably very diluted. but still

I will say this, I have been privy to have seen and had a water treatment plant explained and know what goes on there and believe me, if you only knew what was in the polluted water before it goes in, you would not believe you could drink the water coming out......leave this one alone!

I just pour it down the sink drain, I enjoy watching the colors change a little when they hit the sink (if it has a tiny bit of water in it), especially the ammonia. Some of them say they are caustic, and since I have an old house with not so wonderful gunked up galvanized steel pipes, I just like to think it removes some crap every time. :)

Could not have said it better myself.

But now I'm thinking about it....damn!
Toilet would dilute it more before introducing it to the drain system.... couldn't any good be done by putting it in the soil ...or the neighbors critters...though appealing this does sound.....I digress..to the sink with you !!... until I am proven to be an environmental what not.....whats the better or best option??

I noticed that too, if I were thinking I would have voted the same, although I prefer to use ethylene glycol.
