    I have this thick stuff popping up in a few spots the algae has " fern like " leaves almost like mini calurpa leaves please ID if you can

    You can ask Tangster that having bryopsis is not fun!

    That kind of looks like it but not exactly what am I in for here? You say there are multiple types but are they all bad? does anything eat it? I have not noticed it before but my sailfin has died maybe he was eating it and that is why I never noticed it ?

    That tends to be the problem with bryopsis. Nothing really eats it and it's invasive. I would wait to see what someone has done to fight it.

    Looks like bryopsis to me.

    Apparently people have had success with battling it by raising their Magnesium levels to 1600+. However, thats just heresay. There are some people on these forums who have been battling it for quite some time- I'd check with them

    In fact, if you can, I'd take out any pieces of LR with it growing on it and scrub them to hell. Cause once this stuff takes over your tank, theres not much success with anything to get rid of it. It might be a pain in the ass now to start pulling out pieces of LR- but better than having a tank full of it 3-4 months down the road.
