P, I know they will sell more than 2000 of these as well;)

What do you drive? A VQ nissan right? The NVH of the 3.7 v6 from ford is much better than the NVH of the VQ nissan v6's. Power wise they seem pretty much even, but the ford looks to have better epa numbers for both emissions and mpg. The 2010 GT was 0-60 in the very low 5 second range. I would have to look up the actual performance data, but considering it was down 100 hp from the ss camaro, the mustang was a lot closer to the acceleration times of the much more hp SS camaro. The new 5.0 GT will decimate the SS camaro. I think I saw a 0-60 n the new 5.0 of mid 4 second range. You won't want to meet a new 2011 GT that wants to get ahead of your car. They are close to supercar fast apparently. I can only imagine what a nice supercharger will do to a 2011 GT HP wise.

The 30k or so that the new 2011 GT sells for to start from is a lot of car for that kind of money.

The new v6 stang will be a great car. I hope to test drive one soon, as I will probably rent a v6 convertible for a rental car in northern Cali.

I have owned and driven several mustangs over the years. Even though I am 6'4", I have never had any issue driving even a fox body unless it was a stick shift fox body convertible. The 94-2004's had a lot more room than the fox bodies did, even though the chassis was the same basic unit. The 05+ mustangs have more than enough room, even for me, so I can't see why they wouldn't fit 99% of drivers or front seat passengers with more than enough room to spare. Now if you want to sit int he back seat, that is another story.

here is something for thought, the V6 mustangs have something only the GT guys wish they had from factory,A forged crank, rods, and i am sure they still have forged pistons.if they havent changed anything, these V6 cars can make big horse power.there are V6 mustangs running mid to low 10s with stock lower end.But like the old guy at the dyno shop said,It aint what you want, its how much you want to spend.JOE

Lol, Ive owned a 2004 Mustang and a 2007 Mustang, Favorite car ever. IMO, the power isnt needed. only by the people who are gonna abuse it. Trust me the v6 can get you going on the freeway pretty fast. and there is never a reason to take a car up to the speeds that a v8 can do. Unless your racing... and then if thats not your career its just pure stupidity.

I have an 89 GT Convertible and I'm 6'4 and fit pretty well, it is an auto though not a stick

the "next-gen" mustangs I didnt think were very comfortble but I have driven an 09 gt on several occasions and really like the feel just am anti-4.6L, the 5.0 will be a sweet upgrade

2006 IS 350... Toyota. When I say the V8's can't take me, I'm referring to 4th gen. The 5th gen's have it. The 2011... sheesh, I'm sure by even more ;)

I've tracked 0-60 @ 5.2. Stock. I did have the little PWR switch flipped and it took a second before the rear got traction. What I wish I would've checked is the space that took. 5 seconds is over before you realize it starts.

I haven't been able to do the 1/4 run (track was full the weekend I took it).

But that's all fine. What I really like about this car is two things. 1. the 100-130 time. I have no idea what it is, but it isn't long at all ;) and the car stays planted. 2. that I can keep the power churning while cornering. The computer keeps it inline (I am not a purist, I love traction control technology). I, of course, am an idiot. Do not try at home disclaimer 8)

NVH as in noise right? I haven't been in the new mustang yet ... but I seriously doubt it has better rankings than IS. I have test driven the nissan line up... I do believe mustang is better than those. I was surprised at the rattle and road noise in the infiniti line up. At speed, they sound like the sun roof isn't shut tight. (these were '06 models I drove)

but... to be fair, lexus/infiniti is probably similar to ford/chevy. Folks like what they like and will always detest the competition :p

:laugh5: "abuse it". Love it. I like to think I just "use it". no abs involved :p:p

current gen mustang withstanding (unknown to me), sure those V6s will get you to highway speed... they just won't let you jump up another 10-20mph quickly to overtake someone (as compared to a typical V8 - and I'm sure there's plenty of exceptions, like mine)

there's truth in what you say though... but racing isn't the only reason. i've been known to cruise 130ish on some of these long empty roads we have in the state. all alone on the highway. I can see how some folks could equate that to abuse... but I wouldn't agree. I'm just letting the car breathe and do what it was built to do (I guess, it doesn't really apply bc I'm doing that with a V6).

but v8 power is not all about top speed. I'd say in the US, top speed isn't much of the concern at all actually. There's plenty of V6 cars with higher top speeds than most V8s. It's about getting to speed, out of the way, over taking, getting around, past, by, or under whatever happens to be in the way. And doing all that while sounding better while you're at it :) hehe... of course, eco boost is changing those rules.

I do agree though, I never race on the highway. Just myself. Or I'll punch it to take advantage of an opening to get out of a dang standoff on the highway.

Mustangs where do I start...... They are a cool car yes everyone has one and its a muscle care sure. The numbers sound good and everyone that has one thinks they are fast. I liked them until I had a girlfriend that owned one. after a few times of driving it I found it rattled it seemed cheaply built but hey it was fast. I thought the visibility was horrible and the overall build was poor. It was built for tough which means its got a great motor but everything around it was short of that. I am a speed buff but nowadays its tough to let them rip on the road to enjoy that power. I would take a look at many other cars also before making an expensive decision.make a weekend out of it and test drive everything you can think of. Fords financing is horrible as I just went to get a new truck and my chevys are 0 pecent. Ford was not..... It detoured me 100 percent. Good luck you will know what fits you.

"Fast cars mean good brakes." What my girlfriend's uncle said when he bought her mazda speed3.

Yeah, it's a good car. Good all around and all that stuff. But I don't like this whole "buying it to fit in at school" thing. Get a car that's you, not a car that's who you want to be. Think of it as a commitment. Idealy, whatever you get is going to stay with you for years to come. So buy a car that's you and a car that's what you want and that fits you. If it doesn't feel right, or there's no doubt, just don't get it.

Is this going to be your first car? If so, I recommend something old. And used. Not something nice and new. My first car was a 1999 piece of crap, but I loved it. I paid for all $4k of it, too. It pooped out, but now my next car is a 2005 bling bling beastliness truck :) (check out the "Show your Ride" thread or whatever it is), and I know how to take care of it and how to successfully handle all traffic conditions thanks to my first car. The first car you can make mistakes on and learn, the second one you can baby and love :D
