I'm almost sure that "faster is better" when you are talking about muscle cars. Just sayin.......

Not if the car's always getting fixed or worked on, or if the handling is worse, etc. But if you are going for straight muscle, then yeah, I suppose faster is better. But could be more expensive.

One of my biggest irks with the mazdaspeed3 is the front wheel drive :( You could get more power to the road and just have a quicker, better ride if it was rear wheel. If you accelerate too quickly, you can even feel the front wheels trying to skip on the ground because all of the weight is shifted to the rear.

I mean like the 96-2004 (but I can't tell the difference between 2000's and 2004's on the highway, so maybe I don't mean all the way to 2004)

    but not these

(OK, I'm not sure if this pic is safe for 3reef sensitive eyes or not... I'd say it's SFW but maybe an overly sensitive work wouldn't agree...)

So I'm linking, not posting the pic directly.

(also, I know it's not a mustang, just looks like one)

I agree too. teh torque steer is crazy on both generations of mazdaspeed3. If they can get the geometry or whatever like it is on the 3.7 liter new mazda6 (practically the same motor as the new 2011 v6 mustang but with less power) then they would have a really nice car in the speed3. That mazda6 has practically no tq steer, and handles great.

I think I saw that mazda is doing some work for a new rotary sports car.

I like evo's, as well as subies. But I literally grew up in ford and mercury muscle cars, so I lean that way.

You are seriously looking at one of these? Yeah, it is lower on the price spectrum if you actually have alot of money but you are sixteen... I was just in the exact same position you were and I worked my butt off for two and a half years to get what I have and maintain my tanks. Do you really think you can afford this or does daddy just have a fatty wallet? Not trying to sound condescending, but I know the situation. All the cars in my school parking lot are nice nice cars. A few new and old mustangs actually. But I see that place as being disgusting. A rare few cars in that lot kids actually worked for, and those are all of the beaters. If you are a looking for a first car do something that you know you will love. Not something for the status symbol. Maybe get a slightly older car and work on it a bunch. You could get the same performance, but have your own look for the same money. Just my two cents. Good luck with whatever you buy! Oh and post pictures of it too. You kinda made a riot start over this Mustang topic. Lol
