Hey. I found these on craigslist in my area and i called the guys about the lights. High Output T5 Aquarium Reef Lighting 10,000k Complete Hood Kit Set up He said that they dont have individual reflectors but when they used a lux meter on the lights, there was no difference from ones with indivudual reflectors. Has anyone seen these lights before and used them? Any comments on whether I should get them or not? Thanks

For starters he is full of Bull Hockey if he told you that there was no difference, because I will guarantee that there is. I have a 24" with 4 reflector and I can tell the differance in output just with my eyes...

But I do have the same light, mine is the - 24" of 4x 24w T5, as far as lights go they are okay, I was using them on my frag tank up until recently. Had great growth, and everything seemed real happy.

But I do take issue on the prices, You can get the same light from Fishneedit.com that he sells for 110.00 for 67.99 + 7.99 shipping, which is where I got mine.

I beleive that reflectors double the light output! My lfs raves about T5's and claims they are the future,

So if I use these on a 28 gal tank, slightly deeper than reg tanks, and I am only going to be keeping soft corals, do you think this would be a good buy? Im on a little bit of a budget so the cheaper the better but for pretty quality stuff. And also there is only one power cord so do you just have them all turn on at the same time or did you DIY and put another cord on there?

For soft corals they would be great. If you want 2 cords just buy the 2 lamp one and use 2 of them, not much more expensive that the 4 lamp and they are small.

I fixed the link by the way, sorry.

Hey so I just looked at the fishneedit website and found out that this place is is just a couple miles from my house so no shipping necessary!! Yay. Anyways if people think these lights would be sufficient for soft corals on a slightly deeper tank then I think I will pick up two of the 2-bulb fixtures. Thoughts?

gazog you said you had these lights. If i ever wanted to try to put individual reflectors in the unit myself and take out the other one do you think there would be room to do that or no?

sorry all the questions but one more :) If i get two fixtures and put actinics in one unit and daylights in another so i can have them each on different timers, does this present a problem with the light fixtures focusing more of one type of light under each fixture? if you get what I mean. like the front of the tank will always get more blue and the back will always get more daylight or vice versa?
