how do YOU feel about it. I am in no way an Apex expert but I think there are things you cannot do with an ApexLite you can will a full Apex.

I have never used an Apex, but I know you can get a brand new Reef Angel Plus controller, with a pH probe, ATO using floats (you can buy a water level sensor as well if needed), wireless, and 8 additional sockets (16 total) for around $500 brand new. Add another $80is for the reactor and pump and you are up to the same price except it would all be brand new.

In reality, you could likely get away with just 8 sockets (my guess anyways) and the basic controller, so you could buy a new one including wireless for around $330. Now I have no idea of your skill level with any kind of programming to know if the Reef Angel is for you or not. So take my words with a grain of salt.

I guess my point is, look at what you would buy for yourself and what you need. Then go back and see if it is a good deal.

I absolutely LOVE the apex and personally don't want to use a different controller, so that's one thing, I am wondering what I can't do with the apex lite that I can do with the full blown apex

I can't help you there, but that is the way you should approach it. No reason to jump on something now, only to realize it does not do everything you need.

Just did some research and it seems that there are only two differences

Apex lite doesn't have VDM ports for controlling lighting or tunze pumps, I won't need either because I run vortechs and my lighting has its own controller

And apex lite only has two probe slots, which is fine for me because I only will need temp and ph!

Looks like other than that the two systems are indental in their memory, expandability, and network ready

I think I'm gonna pull the trigger, theoretically it's a major discount

Apex with ph and extra Eb8 is about $560 alone
With the 200$ tunze ATO and the reactors I'm happy

IMO, with the right programming, simple float switches are all you need for an ATO with a controller.

In other words, I think that tunze ATO is overkill.

That's what I was trying to get at as well...
