I had about 50 lbs of rock in my tank. I bought another 50 lbs or so today. It was to bare before. Not sure I'm liking the new look yet. Maybe to much. What do y'all think ? I'll post a before and after pic. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1373682142.700445.jpg ImageUploadedByTapatalk1373682157.894527.jpg

I don't think it's too much. I do see how it is a vast difference in the before and after though. I think it looks good. With such a major change, you'll probably take some time to get used to it to see if you like it. You may want to change the rock around a little too. I liked the two island look you had in the previous scape.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
I like more rock because it gives you more coral placement and serves as a good biological filter.

I also like the minimalist look, before you added the rock.

It all boils down to which do you like and which is more functional.

Both look really good, but I have little doubt the you will mess with he scape more, goes with the addiction.

I may try and take a little out and make some good caves. Not sure yet. Should be better for the tank with more rock. The live should seed the dry rock. I think the few corals I have in there are in shock. I've moved them several times today. Got a good deal on the rock. About 50lbs of rock and a Korila 1050 gph power head for $70.

Your right. Lol. Everytime I think I'm done I find something else I need to buy. Getting very expensive. Looking to switch from instant ocean salt to a better reef salt. LFS near me only has Tropic Marin. Well there goes another $100. Crap !!

Not sure how true this is but a LFS told me that Instant Ocean introduces phosphates into the system. I'm having enough trouble with red slime as it is. And I wanted to go to something that is more geared towards reef tanks.

    Nahhh.

IO is a great salt, it's just the cheaper salt, the LFS is trying to get you to spend more money or is ill informed.

Changing from IO will not help with your cyano issue.

He actually sells IO also. He just said that there are better salts for reef setups. That's what I'm wanting to get to is a nice reef tank. I didn't buy salt from him I actually ordered a bucket of Red Sea Coral Pro salt. On sale for 54.99. I have a pretty good handle on the cyano issue. Manual removal and weekly water changes have helped a lot.
I've read with better salt formulated for reef tanks with weekly water changes there isn't really a need for dosing. How accurate is that ?
