Thats a standard on most fixtures with a controller.

The problem you'll find with getting LEDs in the UK ( iassume thats where you are) is that TMC seem to have the monopoly over here. And its hard to find quality LEDs not made by them unless your willing to import from germany i would just go with a T5 fixture

Wow, just got back to this thread with the updated link, I agree with phoenixheights...Awesome tank for the money! Definately upgrade the lights, but they are good to get through the initial setup and cyle and even ok as long as your fish only to start.

And for anyone interested in the conversion to gallons....Answer: 400 litres L = 105.668 gal(US Liq)
good luck, looking forward to the build thread :jester:

    Really sharp looking tank!!!

I am with Pheonix as far as upgrading the lights. LED's are not as proven as other lighting methods as they just have not been around long enough to know whether the big investment is really worth it. The LED's say they are good for 50K hours - but has anyone really had them for long enough to know whether that is true? T5's are good for the money and effective when used in the right spectrum combinations!

Either way that's a really cool-looking setup and best of luck to you!

    It's absolutely true.

The problem with MH, T5 and all other lights is that there's physical wear and tear. There's heat, which degrades a substance inside the bulb.

With LED, on the other hand, there is nothing being degraded by heat. It's an electron jumping down into a hole at the atomic level, which means that not only is the MTBF 50k hours, but you're likely to never have them burn out at all.

Look at how long a computer operates. The LED on the front never degrades, the CPU never degrades. The things that legitimately break are mechanically broken, like the fan (which can allow the CPU to heat up to the point of breaking if it doesn't have a thermal override for some reason) or the hard drive (which is nearly all mechanical parts). You don't see CPUs break, outside of being run with too high of a voltage.
