I have some salt spray on the aluminum reflector of one of my light fixtures. What do people recommend for cleaning it off, both in terms of cloths and cleansers?

i use those mr.clean erasers on my spray guards for my lights. cleans really well, although the sponge wipe up part isnt all the great, just some some paper towel to get the rest. i would imagine it would work good on your reflectors too jeremy.

Ok, I might try the vinegar or mr clean. I've tried RO water and a microfiber cloth, but the salt stains did not come off. I guess I need something a little stronger. I just don't want to damage the aluminum reflector.

Straight distilled white vinegar. Its about $1.50 a gallon at Wal Mart and lasts a long time. I soak all my powerheads and pumps every few months in straight vinegar the strain the vinegar back into the bottle through a paint filter or some paper towels in a funnel to remove the debris. By using it straight I can save it and resuse it over and over for about a year before the pH changes enough so its not any good.

Water and vinegar or just vinegar or just water will leave a light film on the reflector. I have to clean my reflector's also. Vinegar is great for other hardware in the S.W. hobby but not real great on reflector's. I have been writing companies that make and sell T-5's and still get no answer on the type of compound they use to polish the reflector's. If I ever find out I will post it. Vinegar and water or either one seperate does okay but still not a factory shine. What he is asking has nothing to do with powerhead's and pump's.
