    Hello Coral Experts,

Please excuse the dumb question, but I want to know what SPS, LPS, NPS, stand for and what exactly are soft corals. I see the acronyms all the time in postings and don't know what they mean.

Thanks in advance for your reply and answers. :)

small polyp stony (birds nest, acropora), large polyp stony (fleshier corals like torch or acan), non photosynthetic (gorgonians, sun coral). soft corals don't have stony skeletons- think of mushroom and leathers.
