How big is your tank? How much hair algae do you have? Is it long or still in the short stage?

When it's short, hermits crabs, mithrax crabs, turbo snails will eat it. If it's long sea hares will eat it back until it's shorter and they'll all eat it.

Yeah, you can't put a sea hare in a tank that small.

Where did all of the phosphates come from to trigger the algae? Are you using tapwater?

a sally lightfoot crab will destroy all the GHA in about a week...then u'd have to return it to the LFS cuz 6G isnt big enought to sustain the crab for life....but u need to figure out the problem so it doesnt come back too :)

I don’t think you should be adding to your current cuc in order to mask a problem, best advice is to identify the cause and resolve it.

I’d suggest pulling the hair algae manually and testing the water over the next 24-48 hours as you may see a spike and identify the cause which will lead you to the fix.

Phosphate and nitrates are what you should be looking for. Have you tested your LFS’s water for both as well?
