I was sold this character as a christmas wrasse but another thread has made me doubt this common name. What type of wrasse does this look like to you?

My internet is having major problems and won't let me view your pictures, so I won't comment on your specific fish, but I was doing a lot of reading when I was looking into getting a Christmas Wrasse. I was confused as some places had the bright green version and others looked much different. What I found was that there are several wrasses collected and sold as Christmas wrasses, but that in fact, are not. The most common being the red lined wrasse.

Check out this link Halichoeres It lists quite a few different type of halichoeres. Maybe you can spot your guy in there.

Yours could be a true Christmas wrasse, I just can't view the photos! I'll try to look again later.

Beautiful wrasse, congrats, it appears to be one of the species sold as Christmas Wrasse. It is also a reef safe wrasse for the Halichoeres genus.

yes, i saw this link on one of your posts earlier. this is the link that made me ask the question. mine looks a little like the halichoeres ornatissimus pictured here. however, that is not what i originally thought it was. it's not a big deal, i was just curious.

You're mixing up threads I think! Panfish's is the other wrasse you're thinking of :)

This is, in fact, a Christmas Wrasse (Halichoeres ornatissimus).
