So I'm looking for something to help keep the sand clean and/or help keep the algae down. I was thinking of some kind of goby or a blenny but not sure which one. Is there a fish that will do both jobs, sift sand and eat algae? Any suggestions as to which fish would be great, specifics would be even better.

Oh, forgot to mention, I have a 29 gal biocube.

Hmmm, a fish that fits in a 29g that east alage and sifts sand...

I can't think of one of the top of my head.

A sea cucumber will keep your sand nice and clean and not spray it all over like most gobies do.

It seems like biocubes / nano tanks and gobies are meant for each other.

diamond goby, but in a 29 gallon tank you better hope he eats prepared foods.

Nassarius snails are good at working on the sand bed
and put less of a burden on your system than a fish would

Ok, thanks. I'll definitely get some more snails. Right now I have about 10 snails and they are doing some good but could use the extra help.

just dont get Turbos or Astra as they are not as good on the sand as Narsissus snails are

the 1st 2 species are more rock and glass freindly and IME are only on the sand in transit between one and the other locations - so they might clean areas in transit whereas Nassarius clean that area

fwiw, they are nassarius snails, but you might find one that is narcissistic. LOL

    Nassarius Snail - ReefPedia

There may be more kinds of snails that burrow in the sand, but these are the best for reefs IMHO.
